Accountant
This role is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This role supports month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and assists in driving process improvements within the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare financial statements, schedules, and reports as needed.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Ad hoc financial reporting.
Reconciliations
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis.
- Maintain accurate and organized reconciliation files.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support
- Assist with AP invoice coding, entry, and vendor payments.
- Support AR invoicing, cash applications, and collections as needed.
- Maintain vendor and customer records.
General Ledger Management
- Maintain the general ledger structure and account coding accuracy.
- Analyze GL accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures.
Cross Departmental Reporting and Communications
- Responsible for consistent reporting to operations, attorneys, and members of the Management Committee.
- Coordinates with and supports the accounts receivable function. Including providing regular reporting to upper management regarding outstanding receivables.
Compliance & Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls.
- Support tax filings, sales/use tax reporting, and regulatory submissions.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency.
- Assist in system upgrades or accounting software enhancements.
- Contribute to best practices and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas).
- Experience with accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate.
- Experience in professional services / law firm accounting.
- Familiarity with ERP implementations or process automation tools.
