Brian C. Prendergast concentrates his practice primarily in commercial litigation, and handles matters for business entities of all sizes, ranging from large publicly traded companies to closely held or family-owned businesses. These commercial disputes include contract actions, business torts, employment litigation, officers’ and director’s liability, fraudulent conveyances, trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, and partnership/shareholder disputes.

Brian also represents clients in actions involving professional negligence, family and estate disputes, wrongful foreclosure actions, actions under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, and matters involving the interpretation of various statutes and other regulations.

An accomplished trial lawyer, Brian has worked on matters in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate court levels, from the initial filings and discovery through trial and post-trial proceedings. He also has experience in court-ordered and private arbitration proceedings, as well as various other methods of alternative dispute resolution. His former firm, Prendergast Layden, combined with CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES in 2023.

While in law school, Brian also worked as a law clerk for Forde Law Offices LLP and completed externships with Magistrate Michael T. Mason (United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois) and the Federal Defender Program (Chicago office). He is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Illinois State Bar Association.
