Carson Griffis focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Carson brings to his practice a broad range of experience in both the public and private sectors, particularly in appellate litigation.

Before joining CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES, Carson served as a supervising attorney in the Civil Appeals Division of the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, where he successfully briefed and argued appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Illinois Supreme Court, and all districts of the Illinois Appellate Court. In that role, Carson handled appeals involving constitutional challenges to state statutes and regulations, important issues of statutory interpretation, and a variety of claims against state officers and administrative agencies.

Prior to his time at the Attorney General’s Office, Carson was an associate in the appellate practice group of a national law firm, where he litigated appeals for both private- and public-sector clients and regularly assisted in drafting critical motions in complex cases in state and federal trial courts. He also served as a law clerk to Justice David W. Ellis in the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, and an Assistant Appellate Defender in the Office of the State Appellate Defender.
