Deirdre Close has spent her career in litigation. She has represented corporations, associations, executives and individuals in connection with matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, professional negligence, licensing, regulatory compliance, restrictive covenants, general business disputes, probate, trust disputes, employment issues, federal and state procurement procedures and certification requirements.
Deirdre has experience navigating substantial discovery and investigation plans for complex disputes, engaging in extensive motion practice, working with expert witnesses, and preparing a case for trial. She has the experience and knowledge needed to investigate, analyze and argue procedural and substantive issues pivotal to the trial of a case. In addition to her experience structuring and preparing cases from inception to trial, Deirdre has represented businesses and individuals in negotiations and settlements, both pre-lawsuit and after extensive discovery and litigation.
Deirdre has been involved in litigation matters at both the trial and the appellate levels, in state and federal courts, before various administrative agencies and commissions, as well as in matters which proceed in arbitration or mediation. Her former firm, Prendergast Layden, combined with CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES in 2023.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, North Suburban Bar Association, and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
