Deirdre Close represents corporations, associations, executives, small and local  businesses, and individuals in matters involving breach  of contract, licensing, regulatory compliance, statutory interpretation, restrictive covenants, general business disputes, probate litigation, family and estate disputes, employment issues, federal and state procurement and certification procedures and requirements, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and professional negligence.

An innovative and skilled researcher and writer, Deirdre understands how to dissect legal  issues. She has experience navigating substantial discovery plans and disputes, engaging in extensive motion practice, working with expert witnesses, and building a case for trial. She has the experience and knowledge needed to analyze and argue procedural and substantive issues pivotal to the trial of a case.

Deirdre has been actively involved in complex litigation matters, at both the trial and the appellate levels, in state and federal courts, before various administrative agencies and commissions, as well as in matters which proceed in arbitration or mediation. In addition to her experience structuring and preparing cases from inception to trial, Deirdre has represented businesses and individuals in negotiations and settlements, both pre-lawsuit and after extensive discovery and litigation. Her former firm, Prendergast Layden, combined with CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES in 2023.

She is a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, North Suburban Bar Association, and Women’s Bar Association of Illinois.
