Reed Mercado is a partner at CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES. A senior debt finance attorney with nearly two decades of experience, Reed advises clients on a broad spectrum of debt financing transactions. Clients rely heavily on him for guidance across all stages of the lending lifecycle, from deal origination through workout and restructuring. Prior to joining the Firm, Reed was an attorney at Proskauer Rose LLP, and before that held positions at McGuireWoods LLP and Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP.
Reed’s experience includes representing traditional and non-traditional lenders in cash flow and formula-based credit facilities at every level of the middle market, with a particular focus on credits in excess of $20 million of EBITDA. He also has extensive experience representing operating and sponsor-backed borrowers, especially in connection with acquisitions. Reed’s work is industry-agnostic and spans technology, manufacturing, health care, financial services, and other sectors.
Reed has advised clients on a wide variety of financing structures, including real estate secured transactions, widely syndicated and club deals, subordinated debt facilities, warehouse facilities, loans to high-net-worth individuals, and complex cross-border financings. He has worked on transactions involving diverse collateral types, including aircraft, wine and spirits, trucking and transportation, lease paper, art, and film property. Reed also has extensive experience negotiating and documenting intercreditor agreements.
In addition to his transactional work, Reed advises clients in workout situations. He began his career in 2007 working on voluminous distressed debt portfolios and has developed extensive experience at every stage of a troubled credit, including pre-enforcement strategy, conducting in-court and out-of-court enforcement proceedings, debtor-in-possession financing, and managing bankruptcy situations.
