Richard Prendergast is a highly accomplished civil litigator at both the trial and appellate levels, state and federal, and also has extensive experience with matters involving administrative agencies and commissions. He represents a broad range of individuals, businesses, and associations across industries including healthcare, telecommunications, finance, and others. His former firm, Prendergast Layden, combined with CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES in 2023.
Across his career, Richard has held leadership roles in key organizations including the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar, the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois, the Chicago Bar Association, the Celtic Legal Society of Chicago, and the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and the International Society of Barristers. Richard has been honored with the Illinois Judges Association President’s Service Award and the Justice John Paul Stevens Award.
