Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres Starts the Year with Two New Partners
January 6, 2026
Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres is proud to announce the addition of two Partners at the Firm. Jason Burch has joined CFDB as a Partner, and Taryn Strohmeyer has been promoted.
Jason Burch Joins as Partner
Jason Burch has joined CFDB as a Partner, where he will serve as Outside General Counsel and a strategic advisor to clients across the technology, sports and entertainment and regulated financial services sectors. He advises senior executives and boards on complex regulatory, operational and governance matters, with particular emphasis on guiding organizations through periods of growth, transformation and heightened regulatory scrutiny. He brings deep experience counseling market-leading companies on high-stakes regulatory strategy and execution.
Prior to joining CFDB, Burch spent nearly seven years at Uber, most recently as Legal Director, U.S. Regulatory, where he led national regulatory strategy and advised senior operations and product leaders on day-to-day strategy, compliance, litigation and policy matters across multiple jurisdictions. In that capacity, he managed cross-functional teams and initiatives, oversaw regulatory components of SEC filings and co-counseled public law litigation strategies.
“Jason’s rare combination of board-level regulatory judgment, operational fluency and public law experience is an exceptional fit for our clients,” said Drew Beres, Managing Partner at Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres. “He knows how to translate complex regulatory change into business outcomes, and he has done it at scale in some of the most dynamic markets in the world.”
In addition to his client work, Burch serves as an Independent Director of Bastion, an institutional stablecoin platform, where he provides regulatory oversight related to its New York Department of Financial Services regulated trust charter and advises on governance and change management matters following a strategic acquisition. Earlier in his career, Burch practiced at Sidley Austin LLP, counseling life sciences and healthcare companies on regulatory compliance and enforcement matters. He holds a J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and a B.A., with High Distinction, from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
“CFDB’s entrepreneurial platform and integrated legal government affairs offering were key draws for me,” said Burch. “Clients today expect counsel who can navigate regulatory complexity with speed and precision, while also anticipating the downstream operational and governance impacts. I am excited to partner with CFDB’s outstanding team to deliver that end-to-end advisory model.”
Before entering the legal profession, Burch was a professional baseball pitcher, drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals, competing in two MLB spring trainings and participating in two MLB transactions. That experience continues to shape his disciplined, team-oriented approach to advising clients.
“Jason’s arrival enhances our ability to advise clients at the intersection of regulation, innovation and execution,” said Patrick Croke, Partner at Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres. “His leadership and perspective will be invaluable to companies confronting fast-evolving compliance regimes, scaling operations or pursuing complex strategic initiatives.”
Taryn Strohmeyer Promoted to Partner
Taryn Strohmeyer has been promoted to Partner in the Firm’s Corporate M&A practice. She advises clients on domestic and international business transactions and general corporate matters, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments, internal restructurings and corporate governance.
Since joining CFDB in July 2021, Strohmeyer has led some of the Firm’s most complex M&A transactions, managing deals of varying sizes across multiple industries. Her experience includes representing private and public clients ranging from start-ups to private equity investors and multinational corporations and advising on transactions ranging from a few million dollars to several billion dollars across a wide range of industries, including life sciences and healthcare, technology, consumer products and services, industrial manufacturing, insurance and financial services, media and telecommunications.
Prior to joining CFDB, Strohmeyer practiced at Cravath, Swaine and Moore LLP in New York and London. She earned her J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and her B.A. in humanities also from The University of Chicago.
The addition of Burch and the promotion of Strohmeyer reflect CFDB’s continued focus on strengthening its partnership through strategic growth and internal advancement. These changes enhance the Firm’s ability to provide integrated, high-level advisory services across corporate, regulatory and governance matters. With Strohmeyer’s deep experience in complex M&A and corporate transactions and Burch’s expertise in regulatory strategy and operational counsel, CFDB is well positioned to support clients navigating high-stakes business challenges and evolving market opportunities in 2026 and beyond.
