Charles (Chuck) Reiter III is in Croke Fairchild’s Outside General Counsel practice group and is a healthcare lawyer who has served in a wide range of roles, including as general counsel and corporate secretary for a major academic medical center and large faculty practice corporation, as well as a community hospital. Chuck has managed self-insurance, claims management, risk management, corporate compliance, internal audit, and quality improvement programs.

With many years of experience trying civil lawsuits to juries, Chuck has represented parties in administrative hearings, as well as briefing and arguing appeals in state and federal courts.

His pro bono work includes establishing the Loyola Children’s Center at Maybrook to provide free daycare, books, meals, social services, and medical screenings to children whose parents had business in the courthouse; establishing the Felony Mental Health Court at Bridgeview to provide mental health services in a non-custodial setting; Chair Emeritus of the Board, BraveHearts Therapeutic Riding Center – Equine assisted therapies for people with special needs including children, veterans and Gold Star families; Commissioner of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission; Director, Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.

Chuck serves as visiting faculty at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy and is a frequent national speaker before legal and medical groups on medical staff matters, not-for-profit governance practices, and business transactions.
