DAVID ADELEYE
Government Relations Director and Counsel


David Adeleye is an attorney with Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres. He also serves as a government relations director and counsel for Point of Difference Strategies. 

David brings experience from private legal practice and previous positions in the White House, U.S. Senate, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and local, state, and presidential campaigns to his role as an advocate for clients.

David worked at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, advising on the Office’s strategies to further the President’s National Drug Control Strategy. David also worked on Senator Richard J. Durbin’s U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee staff, first as a law clerk and later as special counsel when Senator Durbin became the Chair of the Committee. As special counsel, David assisted with the successful confirmation process for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. 

David practiced in a large law firm in Washington, D.C., before joining CFDB and PoD. David regularly comments on politics and has appeared on MSNBC and local television affiliates.

Regulatory Advising

David has counseled clients on complex federal and state energy and environmental regulations, particularly from a risk-management and compliance perspective in an ever-changing regulatory landscape. His experience includes advising on domestic and international frameworks to lower CO2 emissions reductions, mandatory compliance with federal and state clean fuels programs, and full-service due diligence for developer clients seeking to obtain bona fide prospective purchaser (BFPP) status.

Energy Transactions

David also has helped structure agreements for clients pursuing opportunities in sectors reshaping carbon markets, energy, and environmental practices, including sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), carbon claims, carbon credits, sustainable supply chains, sustainability-linked notes, and community solar infrastructure. His experience includes helping structure offtake agreements for low carbon intensity (CI) fuel pathways, carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects, voluntary emission reduction purchase agreements (VERPA), and reforestation programs.

Environmental Law

David has advised clients on navigating federal and state environmental regulations, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act. He has assisted clients engaged in commercial and environmental litigation and agency enforcement proceedings. David also has counseled clients on managing risk and conducting regulatory diligence in “buy-side” and “sell-side” transactions, including corporate M&A and commercial real estate deals.

Political Law

David has counseled clients on compliance with campaign finance laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels of government. David also has advised clients on federal, state, and local lobbying laws, and rules governing gifts to governmental officials.

David worked as the Voter Protection and Ballot Access Director for the 2024 North Carolina Coordinated Campaign. He led a statewide voter protection team to ensure county boards of elections complied with state and federal election laws on behalf of North Carolina’s 7.6 million registered voters.
