Ariella Guardi is a partner in the Croke Fairchild Duarte & Beres Litigation & Investigations practice group.
Ariella, a former Senior Trial Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), is a seasoned litigator with experience conducting government enforcement actions and investigations, internal corporate investigations, and complex civil disputes.
Ariella was with the Chicago Regional Office of the SEC from 2014 to 2025. During her tenure, she led the prosecution of a wide variety of SEC enforcement actions. Her expertise includes the anti-fraud provisions of the federal securities laws, broker dealer and investment adviser compliance, and accountant and auditor liability. Ariella also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Minnesota and the Northern District of Illinois, where she investigated and prosecuted complex criminal fraud matters.
Prior to her government service, Ariella worked at Sidley Austin LLP, where she litigated complex commercial disputes, handled corporate internal investigations for domestic & foreign companies, and represented companies and individuals in government investigations.
Ariella is actively involved in community service, including by serving as a board member and audit committee chair of Pillars Community Health. At Sidley, she was recognized for her commitment to pro bono service.
