Matt Miller

Matt is a three-time General Counsel, having served as the top legal executive for public and private companies, and he’s been through two IPOs. As a senior legal executive and part of company leadership teams in the e-commerce, cannabis, and CPG sectors, Matt has been involved in significant M&A, employment work, commercial transactions, SEC compliance, regulatory and privacy issues, and bet-the-company litigation, and he’s experienced with working on leading-edge issues.
Prior to his work in-house, Matt began his career at Jenner & Block, an AmLaw 100 firm based in Chicago, before joining Prendergast Layden (now also a part of CROKE FAIRCHILD DUARTE & BERES), and eventually forming his own law firm. During his private practice years, Matt’s handled complex litigation matters in state and federal courts, conducted trials before juries and judges—including a record-setting jury verdict in Mercer County, Illinois. Matt’s clients included multi-national corporations, privately held companies, startups, technology companies, real estate developers, medical practices, and judges, law firms, and lawyers. In addition to his dispute practice, Matt provided outside general counsel services to businesses and high net worth individuals.
Matt is also an entrepreneur who has built and launched a disruptive startup in the job search industry. As an entrepreneur and lawyer, Matt understands the business, legal, and personal challenges entrepreneurs face and can help you successfully and efficiently navigate the legal issues entrepreneurs encounter.
A lifelong soccer player, Matt represented the United States as a member of the U.S. Men’s Master’s Team in international competition in Israel in 2009, and Brazil in 2011. Matt currently serves as a Volunteer Soccer Coach at Lincoln Park High School.
