David Skelding is a trusted advisor to C-Suite executives and corporate, trust and non-profit boards. He provides sound, prudent, practical and effective legal advice in a variety of contexts and subject matters including: investment advisor and broker-dealer compliance matters, mergers & acquisitions, employment disputes, joint ventures, corporate and trust law and securities offerings. He has had significant international business experience.
David began his career at Lord, Bissell & Brook (now Locke Lord, an AmLaw 100 law firm) first as an associate, then as an equity partner. His practice there concentrated on public offerings, private placements and M&A transactions. He also represented a number of investment advisers and broker-dealers, developing an expertise in securities regulatory and compliance matters.
For 20 years, David was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Christian Brothers Investment Services, Inc., an institutional investment management firm. During his time at CBIS, he served in a variety of other C suite roles, including Vice President of Client Service and Head of Distribution.
David was a founding director of CBIS Global Funds, an European Union-domiciled family of publicly registered investment funds. He has served on a number of not-for-profit boards. Currently, he serves as a director of Friends of Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine, Inc., and is a member of the Mission Advancement Committee of Calvert House at the University of Chicago.
